There are several hotels at Arlanda Airport — this time I went with the Airport Hotel Arlanda, part of the Quality Hotel brand.
Location
This is probably the hotel’s biggest drawback: the location. The hotel is really out of the way, situated inside a shopping mall (which was closed due to my late arrival), and the only thing nearby is a McDonald’s. The free shuttle from the airport takes about 10–15 minutes. You can find the schedule for the return trip here:
Check-In
A little bumpy, to be honest. As a status member, I should have received a drink voucher, but it took quite a while to sort out. Truthfully, the mistake was partly mine — Nordic Choice has its own rules that I wasn’t fully familiar with beforehand. Mea culpa. Still, I eventually got the room key and the voucher (worth SEK 125, by the way).
To the right of check-in, there’s a small area where you can grab snacks, coffee, or drinks.
Room
My room was on the 8th floor. Not particularly large, but functionally equipped. On the right as you enter, there’s a small wardrobe, luggage rack, ironing board, and safe.
The bed was surprisingly good.
There’s also a small desk with a kettle and some instant coffee. Nothing special.
The bathroom is on the right side. It has a small shower, a rather compact sink, and all toiletries come in large bottles — which personally I’m not a big fan of.
Amenities
In the evening I had a drink at the bar (using my SEK 125 voucher). The dinner menu looked decent — here’s the menu with prices.
The bar has a solid selection — though the photo here is from the next morning. Drink prices are typically Swedish, which is to say: not cheap.
Am nächsten Morgen gab es ein doch sehr umfangreiches Frühstück was eigentlich keine Wünsche offen liess. Es gab unterschiedliche Warmspeisen, Aufschnitt, Fisch, Kaffee, Saft – und noch einiges mehr.
Checkout
Checkout was smooth and quick. The shuttle arrived within minutes and I was back at the airport in no time.
Conclusion
Insgesamt war der Aufenthalt okay. Die Lage ist eben das grösste Manko bei diesem Hotel. Wenn die Preise für eine spontane Reise allerdings am Flughafen so hoch sind, dann kann man dieses Hotel durchaus in Betracht ziehen. Wahrscheinlich würde ich nächstes Mal eine Münze werfen und schauen ob ich hier nochmals übernachte….
