Booking
I made the booking through the IHG Rewards app. I booked the cheapest room, a King Guest Room. Why I chose an airport hotel — I honestly can’t remember anymore.
Location
From Madrid Airport, the hotel can be reached by car or hotel shuttle within 15 minutes. Unfortunately the connections aren’t quite optimal — the signage at the airport could use some improvement, as shuttles serve both Terminals 1 and 2 as well as Terminal 4.
Check-In
Since I arrived late in the evening, I was the only guest checking in. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and I was assigned a Club room, which was a nice touch. Status members can now get drink vouchers again — something I’ve always appreciated — though it would have been even better if the bar or restaurant had still been open at that hour.
Room
The first impression of the room was quite good. The entryway is well-lit by hotel standards. On the right side is the bathroom, featuring a whirlpool tub, toilet, and shower. I was pleasantly surprised by how bright the bathroom was. As expected, the essential toiletries (shower gel and shampoo) were provided.
In the generously sized room itself, there’s a comfortable sofa, chairs, a side table, and a proper desk alongside the bed.
The TV with all the relevant channels is easy to watch from both the bed and the sofa. As usual, there’s a safe, ironing board, coffee machine, and a small snack selection.
Restaurant
Breakfast is available as a buffet — since I checked out before breakfast hours, I unfortunately wasn’t able to test it.
Check-Out
Check-out was once again straightforward and friendly. A shuttle was organized quickly and I was able to get back to the airport without any hassle.
Verdict
The stay was perfectly fine for the points used. A typical airport hotel — for an actual Madrid stay, I’d go straight into the city.
