Curio Wasserturm by Hilton Hotel Cologne

The stay at the Curio Wasserturm by Hilton was fair for the price. The quiet location is still well connected to public transport, which is convenient for both trade fair visitors and tourists. A complimentary daily public transport pass would round out the experience nicely.

Booking

I made the booking through the Hilton app. Since I was visiting for a trade fair, I booked a flexible reservation for 2 nights and chose the most affordable room category.

Location

The hotel is four tram stops from Cologne Central Station (lines 16 and 18). The Poststrasse stop is less than a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Since I arrived via the AIRail from Frankfurt, this was the most convenient option. The hotel is also well suited for trade fair visitors, as tram lines 3 and 4 toward the fairgrounds also stop at Poststrasse. For restaurants and tourist attractions, you should plan for about a twenty-minute walk.

Check-In

The late-evening check-in was quick and friendly. My Diamond status helped secure an upgrade to a Duplex Suite.

Room

The first impression of the room is quite positive. In the entrance area on the left is the bathroom, followed by the living room with a comfortable sofa and a table. The sleeping area unfortunately has no windows of its own and is located on the upper level, accessible via a fabric-lined staircase.

On the entrance level there is a generously sized round window. The minibar was stocked, and for Diamond members its use is complimentary. There are also TVs opposite the bed and above the table, covering the most important channels.

Hotel room with desk, telephone, and remote control

The bathroom is adequate and clean. Toiletries were provided as well, as is standard with the Hilton brand, and are sufficient for a short stay.

Amenities

There is both a spa area and a bar, though unfortunately I was unable to visit either due to scheduling conflicts.

Restaurant

Breakfast is available as a buffet. As a Diamond member, breakfast is included; otherwise it costs around €25.

Lounge

The Curio Wasserturm offers a lounge of sorts where guests can enjoy hot drinks and relax.

Check-Out

Check-out was straightforward and friendly. I was able to arrange a late check-out, giving me just enough time for a quick shower before heading home.

Verdict

The stay was fair value for the price. The location is very quiet, yet everything is within walking distance or easily reachable by affordable public transport. One great addition to the service would be providing guests with a day pass for the local public transport network.
