As someone who travels frequently and stays in many hotels, I know how important it is for a stay to be both relaxing and hassle-free. The DoubleTree by Hilton in Nice delivered exactly that. The welcome was warm, and the soft, chocolatey cookie you receive upon arrival is a lovely touch — especially welcome late in the evening.
Location
The hotel is perfectly situated right next to the main train station — the beach is about a 10-minute walk away, making it an excellent base for exploring Nice. The area around the hotel is lively without being overwhelming, so you get both a sense of calm and the true flair of the city.
Check-In
Check-in on the top floor is pleasant and friendly. I had my key card in hand fairly quickly and was on my way to the room.
Room & Facilities
My room was modern and well-equipped. I particularly appreciated the comfortable bed and high-quality bedding, which made for a great night’s sleep. One minor downside: the bathroom was quite compact, though functional — I would have appreciated a bit more counter space.
Service & Dining
The service throughout the hotel was consistently good — the staff were helpful and very friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and relaxed, perfect for dinner after a long day. Breakfast offered a solid selection, and egg dishes can be ordered to order. In the restaurant and bar, you can choose between a city view or a view of the train station. As a train enthusiast, well — that was it for me.
Fitness
The gym isn’t huge, but it has everything you need for a decent workout. Then again, there’s so much to discover on foot in Nice and Monaco that you barely need it anyway.
Verdict
All in all, my stay at the DoubleTree in Nice was a very positive experience. The combination of an excellent location, comfortable rooms, and good service makes it a highly recommendable choice when visiting Nice and the surrounding area.
