Introduction
This trip started in Paris for what I’d call a “slightly creative” itinerary. We needed a hotel, and this time the choice fell on the Hilton Charles de Gaulle. As always, I booked directly through Hilton. Here’s how it went.
Location
The exact address is: 8 Rue de Rome, Tremblay-en-France, 93290 — Phone: +33 1 49 19 77 77. The hotel is just three minutes from public transport connections (CDGVAL, TGV, RER, and bus) and a short distance from Terminal 3.
Check-In
To put it politely: not particularly helpful or accommodating — rather distant, in fact. The classic “upgrade game” was in play, and the staff couldn’t be persuaded to offer a better room, even though one was available at the time.
Room
On the left side was a wardrobe, and directly to the right was the bathroom. Unfortunately, everything was initially set up for just one guest — despite the booking clearly noting otherwise. A kettle was nowhere to be found either; the fitting for one was there, but the kettle itself was missing.
Most of the room was taken up by the bed, with a small sofa and a single chair alongside. There was a desk, but the lamp didn’t work, leaving that corner rather dark.
The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub, which I always appreciate. The size was decent, but it didn’t exactly feel modern.
Overall, the room didn’t feel particularly contemporary — you could tell here and there that it had seen better days.
Lounge
Directly across from the lobby is the Executive Lounge, accessible with your room key. The exact happy hour times are shown in the photo. The evening food offering was fairly limited — mostly sandwiches, with self-service alcoholic drinks.
Soft drinks are available throughout the day (naturally, only if consumed inside the lounge…).
There were plenty of seats. There was also a PC available for working, though I wouldn’t go so far as to call it a proper business centre.
Amenities / Recreation
Tucked away somewhat discreetly is a modest gym with a handful of cardio machines, plus water available during your workout.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served on the ground floor and follows the typical Hilton style. The selection is, in my opinion, perfectly adequate — though not quite as extensive as you’d find in Asian hotels. Fresh egg dishes could be ordered, and with a bit of luck, you’d actually receive them.
Check-Out
I didn’t make a formal complaint, but I did mention the dinner situation — despite the restaurant being quiet, we’d simply been forgotten and nobody had come to check on us. I also noted the room’s somewhat tired condition. In response, they simply removed the dinner from our bill and apologised. I hadn’t expected that at all, and it certainly wasn’t my intention when I brought it up.
Verdict
I find it a little hard to reach a clear verdict here. On one hand, the hotel responded with genuine generosity; on the other, the overall service was far from outstanding, and the age of the property shows in places. I’d probably choose the Sheraton CDG again next time, assuming the prices are comparable. The transfer to this hotel isn’t too long, but it’s still longer than the one to the Sheraton.
