Not far from London Heathrow Airport you’ll find the Renaissance London Heathrow Airport Hotel. This hotel is part of the Marriott group and chances are everyone has spotted it at least once when arriving at or departing from London Heathrow.
Getting There
There are several options here. Starting with an Uber, to the Hoppa Bus (Terminal 2 H4/H7, Terminal 3 H4/H7, Terminal 4 H54, Terminal 5 H54 https://www.heathrowhotels.com/shuttle-buses). A single ride costs 6 GBP, return 11 GBP.
Or you can simply take the public bus, which is actually free and just a short walk from Terminal 2. There you take bus 111, 105, 140, or 285, which drop you off very close to the hotel at the bus stop.
Check In
The check-in process didn’t go entirely smoothly. It took multiple requests before I received a voucher for a drink or any further information about the benefits as a Platinum member at the time.
If you do get a voucher, it’s called a VIP Guest Voucher and is good for a glass of soft drink, house wine, or beer. A photo will follow here.
Room
It takes a little while to get there as the corridors are quite long due to the hotel’s architecture. The room itself was clean and had everything you need for a short stay.
Right in the entrance area there’s a tea and coffee making facility. The minibar fridge, however, was empty.
The room isn’t exactly spacious but is perfectly functional. The bathroom has been modernised in recent years and offers everything you need for a stay.
Lounge
Yes, this hotel does have a lounge, though I wasn’t able to take any photos as the small lounge was quite crowded.
Check Out
This went much, much faster than the check-in — shortly after I was already at the road waiting for the next public bus towards the airport. It’s genuinely quicker than the Hoppa Bus. There is a Hoppa Bus ticket station in the lobby though, and they do actively point it out to you during check-out.
Verdict
The view of the runway is genuinely fantastic. When it comes to service, however, you do have to make some compromises here and there. As long as you end up in one of the newer rooms, the hotel is perfectly fine overall.
