On one of my fairly frequent trips, I stayed at the Renaissance Wien.
If arriving by underground, the nearest stop is Meidling Hauptstrasse (U4), from where it’s just a short walk to the hotel.
Booking
As always, I booked directly through Marriott to take advantage of the status benefits (such as complimentary breakfast and upgrades in my case). Once again, I used a cashback site — I’ll be publishing an article about that soon. By the way, this is a Category 4 hotel, so a points night requires between 20,000 (off-season) and 40,000 points (peak season).
Check In
Very friendly and swift, with a typical Viennese charm. In any case, it didn’t take long — they explained the benefits and when breakfast is served.
Room
As always, I booked a standard room, but ended up receiving a Premium room, which I really appreciated.
In the entrance area, there’s a tea/coffee maker and a bottle of water. As a welcome gift, there was also a small bottle of white wine — another very nice touch.
The bedroom is dominated by the large (and comfortable) bed, while the other side features a wardrobe with bathrobes and a safe, as well as a chair/seating area.
Bathroom
This is very modern and bright. In addition to a bathtub, there’s also a separate shower. Small amenities like shampoo/conditioner are available in sufficient supply.
Breakfast
Besides a buffet, there was also the option to order waffles or egg dishes at the bar. I can highly recommend both, by the way. Here too, I apologise for the missing food photos — it simply wasn’t possible, and unfortunately
Check Out
This required a bit of patience, as only one person was on duty and had to explain everything to the guests ahead of me. No big deal — I could always catch a later train. The bill was correct and was also emailed to me upon request.
Conclusion
Depending on the season, this hotel offers really great prices, and the value (as a status member) is truly impressive. The breakfast is genuinely convincing, and I would definitely book this hotel again.
