For an early departure, I once again ended up at the Sheraton Düsseldorf. This time I booked it rather spontaneously but only paid EUR 98 for the most basic room category. I received an upgrade to a Club Room. As always, I booked through the Marriott website to take advantage of my status benefits.
I’ve already described the location etc. in another post, you can find it here:
Check In
Check in went much more relaxed this time compared to my last visit. After just a few moments I had my room key in hand.
Room
The Club Room (310) is supposed to be 25 sqm, but personally it felt very small to me.
On the right side is the bathroom with a bathtub and more than enough towels and toiletries. Still, it’s not for people who don’t like small spaces.
The rest of the room was dominated by a large bed, and there were plenty of options to charge electronic devices. For the morning coffee fix, a Nespresso machine was provided, which I really appreciate. Below it was an (empty) mini fridge.
The wardrobe also contained an ironing board, a safe, and a few small items like a shoehorn, laundry bag, etc.
The chair at the desk is quite comfortable, by the way. The small seating area with complimentary water is also a nice touch.
After some time, a welcome gift did arrive, although I had to ask for it. It was quite lovely though — a small snack and a reusable water bottle featuring a Düsseldorf design.
Amenities and Dining
Since the lounge is still closed, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages can be obtained at the lobby bar from 6 to 11 PM. You just need to provide your room number. Snacks, however, are not offered. There is a very small menu from which you can order (at your own expense).
The menu currently looks like this:
This time I also visited the fitness center. It’s rather compact, but has everything you need for a workout. There’s also complimentary water here, which is something I always appreciate.
Breakfast is automatically included for Titanium members. This time, however, the staff member wasn’t sure and wanted to charge me for breakfast. After a phone call, the issue was resolved. Egg dishes were offered, but the quality wasn’t at the level you’d expect. Otherwise, there was enough to fill you up.
If anyone is looking for the concierge, you’ll find them here — though I’ve never actually seen anyone sitting there. Next to it, there’s a foosball table and the option to charge your phone. I mainly noticed this while walking through the corridors. The meeting rooms, by the way, are all labeled with names related to aircraft and airlines.
Verdict
For one night, the hotel is perfectly adequate. I slept well, and in my opinion that’s what matters most. The service is good, though here and there you can tell that the staff hadn’t been able to welcome guests for quite some time.
