Sheraton Skyline London Heathrow Hotel (Pre-COVID)

The Sheraton Skyline at Heathrow Airport is a solid but unremarkable airport hotel — functional, clean, and with a pleasant lounge, though showing noticeable signs of wear. Check-out was unfortunately disappointing and cost me a bus connection. An acceptable option for frequent travelers with Marriott status, but not a hotel you return to out of conviction.

Booking

As is often the case, I booked directly through Marriott. The reason is probably obvious — I wanted to earn points and still receive the status benefits. The price was also identical to other booking platforms. Sure, you could make a case for booking via Hotels.com to get that 10th night “free,” but for this particular stay, that wasn’t really an option for me.

Location

Getting from Heathrow Airport to the hotel by Hoppa Bus is fairly straightforward. I’ve read somewhere that there’s also the option of taking a free shuttle bus from the airport — I’ll add that information here once I’ve confirmed it.

Check-In

Pretty decent, not particularly warm, but I did receive all the information I needed. There was also a small upgrade which I appreciated very much.

Room

Absolutely fine, clean and functional. That would probably be the summary.

As you enter the room, on the right-hand side you’ll find a tea and coffee station as well as a (paid) minibar. There’s also a wardrobe with a bathrobe.

The room itself features a comfortable bed alongside a couch and a desk.

The bathroom offers everything you need and feels fairly fresh and recently renovated.

Lounge

The Sheraton Skyline Lounge offers refreshments throughout the day, along with breakfast in the morning and a happy hour with light bites in the evening. The evening spread is nothing groundbreaking — you get beer and wine alongside some finger food.

Breakfast, on the other hand, is quite pleasant — a genuinely good selection of food, worth a mention. I wasn’t able to try the restaurant as I had to move on fairly early, but hopefully the pictures speak for themselves.

Check-Out

For once, I have to mention this as well. Unfortunately it didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped. As a result, I missed my bus — and I’ll be honest here: I would definitely not recommend the Hoppa Bus again. Take an Uber directly to the airport instead (which is where my journey continued from anyway).

Verdict

It was okay — nothing more, nothing less. The room feels a bit worn and is strongly reminiscent of Sheratons in the US. There’s potential, but I have to ask myself whether I’d come back here again.
