Since I arrived late in the evening with Edelweiss and had an early morning flight to Denver, I chose the Tampa Airport Marriott for its unbeatable convenience. Located directly inside the airport, it’s just a short walk: two floors up from baggage claim, a brief walk down a hallway — and you’re at the front desk.
Check-In – Could Be Smoother
The check-in process was a bit sluggish. It took some time for someone to show up, and once they did, the process still felt unnecessarily slow. That said, I did receive a few Marriott Bonvoy perks thanks to my status:
- An upgrade to a slightly better room
- A drink voucher for the bar
- Two extra bottles of water
Unfortunately, due to my very early departure, breakfast wasn’t available – not even a “to go” option. A bit disappointing, especially for an airport hotel, where early check-outs should be expected.
As usual, I booked the stay directly through the Marriott website via a cashback portal – to collect points and benefit from possible status perks.
The Room – Standard, but Spotless
No surprises here — the room was what I’d call a typical American business hotel room. That’s not a complaint, just an observation. If you’ve stayed at a few of these, you’ll know the look and feel.
The cleanliness was excellent, which I appreciated after a long flight. And yes — there were more complimentary bottles of water in the room. Always a plus!
Room highlights:
A cozy armchair for relaxing briefly – and yes, it was genuinely comfortable
-
On the left: a clean and functional bathroom
-
On the right: a closet with bathrobes and a safe
-
Straight ahead: a very comfortable king-size bed
Across from the bed: a TV and a Koenig coffee machine – decent quality for hotel coffee
Food & Drinks – Just Enough for a Nightcap
This part of the review is short and sweet: I used my drink voucher at the bar. The selection was decent, and while the service wasn’t exactly enthusiastic, I got what I ordered — and that’s what counts.
Final Verdict – Worth It for Short Stays
Would I stay here again? For a short overnight stay: absolutely yes.
The pros:
- Direct terminal access – no shuttle needed
- Clean, comfortable room
- Free bottled water and decent in-room amenities
The cons:
- ⏱ Slow check-in
- No early breakfast options, even to-go
Still, for a one-night layover, it ticks most of the boxes. If the price is right, I’d gladly return — especially for the convenience of walking straight from the baggage carousel to my room.
