Conrad Hong Kong Hotel (HKG)

The Conrad Hong Kong impresses above all with its generous, elegant rooms, a strong Executive Lounge, and a solid overall package for Hilton status members. The service was friendly, though not always seamless — there were minor hiccups at both check-in and check-out. Overall, a highly recommended luxury hotel in Hong Kong, especially with lounge access.

4 / 5

I chose this hotel based on its positive reviews and spent my first night here. To take advantage of a few extra perks, I booked through a travel agent — which ultimately netted me double points and a food and beverage credit. The rate was the same as the standard flexible rate.

Check-In

After arriving from the airport by Uber (admittedly, I was completely overwhelmed at that point), check-in went reasonably well. Not ideal, as it took quite a long time, but eventually I had my room key in hand and staff walked me through the benefits. These were comparable to Virtuoso benefits: an upgrade (subject to availability), a USD 100 credit (or local currency equivalent) for food and beverages, complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast, and more. Some of these perks I would have received anyway thanks to my Hilton status, but getting double points on top of the USD 100 credit was a nice bonus.

Room

The first impression was simply: wow. Stunning views, and the room was absolutely spotless. Anyone who appreciates heavier furniture and marble will feel right at home here.

Entering the room, you walked straight into the living and working area with a guest WC. Shortly after settling in, tea was served — accompanied by a small fruit plate, chocolates, and a welcome card.

On the left side were the main bathroom, the coffee machine and minibar, the bedroom, and a wardrobe.

The bathroom features a lot of marble and has a somewhat classic feel — not a criticism, just how it struck me. In addition to a shower, there’s a bathtub, more than enough toiletries (including a razor, etc.), and — of course — a Conrad rubber duck.

There were plenty of power outlets throughout the room. The hotel also offers a turndown service in the evening, which I truly appreciate. For music lovers (and those with tolerant neighbours), there’s a Bose speaker system that pairs with your phone.

The work area features not just a large desk, but also a full range of stationery and writing supplies.

The bed leans toward the softer side, but is very comfortable, with a wide selection of pillows. And naturally, the Conrad teddy bear was there too — a lovely keepsake.

The living room is very bright. At check-in, I was asked which view I preferred — though it turned out only one option was still available. That said, it really wasn’t a big deal, as receiving such a lovely room upgrade more than made up for it.

Lounge

The lounge stands out very positively. Once you step off the elevator on the lounge floor, you’re asked for your room number and can then enter freely.

Beyond breakfast, the lounge offers non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day, as well as afternoon tea with snacks. In the evening, the spread expands with a selection of snacks and alcoholic beverages. Service wasn’t always the quickest, but was consistently friendly and helpful.

The lounge itself is essentially one large room, with a buffet in the centre and a small selection of cold snacks along each side. Drinks are also in the centre, though alcoholic beverages are served to your table. The whole experience is rounded off by a coffee machine that produces a genuinely excellent cup.

One more highlight not to be overlooked — the truly stunning view from the lounge. My recommendation: definitely ask for a window seat. It’s absolutely worth it.

Restaurant

A brief note on the Conrad’s restaurant as well. First and foremost, the service is excellent. The selection and freshness of both food and drinks is very good, and the prices are — well, let’s just say appropriate.

Recreation

In addition to a fitness centre, the hotel also has a lovely outdoor pool. You access it with your room key, where you’ll be asked for your room number and handed one or more towels. Food and drinks can also be ordered poolside — just grab one of the small menus provided.

The pool is a good size and is supervised at all times.

Check-Out

This was a slightly odd experience — very friendly, but suddenly no one seemed to remember the restaurant credit. After a brief back-and-forth, the issue was resolved without much trouble.

Verdict

With the Conrad, you really can’t go wrong — especially as a status member with lounge access. Over the course of my stay, I earned more than 20,000 points (yes, there were Hilton promotions running at the time), which represent a meaningful real-world value in themselves. The service met my expectations and the overall experience was very positive. Would I give the Conrad the edge over the JW? Find out in my next review: /en/jw-marriott-hotel-hong-kong/
