Frankfurt Airport has a few lounges in the secure area, accessible depending on your card, cabin class, or status. In addition, there is a DB Lounge for Deutsche Bahn customers.
Location & Access
The lounge is located on a mezzanine floor, accessible by lifts or escalators. Access to DB Lounges is generally granted to BahnBonus status customers and one accompanying person, BahnCard 100 holders with one accompanying person, and travelers with a valid DB long-distance ticket in 1st class at the Flexpreis fare. Additionally, Senator and HON customers have access in conjunction with an Airrail ticket (which was the case for me).
Amenities
The lounge is relatively dark – anyone familiar with the Lufthansa Lounge in Paris will know exactly what I mean.
That said, there is at least some reading material available to pass the time.
The lift down to the platforms is quite nice and makes the whole experience more pleasant.
All soft drinks as well as hot beverages can be selected via the self-service machines.
The lounge has several screens displaying upcoming train departures.
In addition to the obligatory restrooms, which are very clean, there are several separate areas for relaxing and dining.
Verdict
In my opinion, waiting in the lounge is more pleasant than standing on the platform. For Airrail status customers, I would recommend using the terminal lounges instead and waiting for your train there.
