Location & Access
This lounge is used by several airlines at Nuremberg Airport as their business lounge, so you can access it with a business class ticket, the appropriate frequent flyer status, or through Priority Pass and Loungebuddy, among others.
Once you clear security and head toward the duty-free area, the lounge is pretty hard to miss.
Facilities
This lounge used to be a Lufthansa lounge — and it shows, with the characteristic Lufthansa armchairs and familiar high tables still in place. These are simply spread around a large room, and there’s no view of the apron whatsoever.
There are also two work desks with power outlets, though power sockets are unfortunately in short supply throughout the lounge.
Food & Drinks
The offering is quite decent for a contract lounge. The selection of pre-made salads and sandwiches is good, and then there’s the regional highlight: Nuremberg Rostbratwürste — “Drei im Weggla” as they’re called in the local Franconian dialect — and for anyone who isn’t sure how to eat them, there’s even a little guide. :-)
During my visit it was fairly busy, but the staff made an effort to keep everything topped up. That said, it’s a challenge when there’s only one person managing both the buffet replenishment and the lounge access control.
Beyond the main buffet counter, there’s also a fridge stocked with drinks and additional salads and sandwiches, which you could probably take with you — though the idea is naturally to consume everything in the lounge.
Fans of gin and tonic will have to make do with wine and sparkling wine here, which is hardly the end of the world.
Verdict
For bridging the time before a connecting flight, I think this lounge does the job well. Then again, maybe the Drei im Weggla just won me over. I wouldn’t plan to spend a lot of extra time here, but it’s certainly a more pleasant way to wait for your flight.
