Introduction
Not far from the Hilton Sao Paulo you’ll find the Grand Hyatt. We spontaneously booked an extra night here to compare the Hilton with the Hyatt. The price was really very reasonable, and with the ever-recurring Hyatt promotions it made for a doubly — or even triply — interesting stay.
Check-In
Check-in went fairly smoothly overall, though it took a little longer than we would have liked. We had already checked in online beforehand, but that didn’t help quite as much as expected. The lobby is very beautiful, however, and offers plenty of seating.
Room
We received exactly the room category we had booked — no complaint whatsoever; I think that’s perfectly fair.
On the left side there was a (stocked) minibar including a coffee machine, as well as space to set down your luggage.
Next to that was the desk (with a comfortable chair and writing materials) and then the bed. Plenty of power outlets were available here as well.
A comfortable armchair also invites you to take a leisurely break.
On the way to the bathroom there is a generously sized wardrobe with an ironing board, slippers, and a safe.
The bathroom was bright and absolutely spotless. There was also a good selection of amenities such as a toothbrush, razor, and more — a genuine compliment is in order here. Notably, the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash came in individual portions rather than dispensers, which I personally find more hygienic.
Amenities
In addition to a fitness room, there is also a very pleasant pool (with a bar).
To reach the pool you simply walk through the restaurant (where breakfast and other meals are also served).
At the pool you can also order from a small but excellent menu. The burger I ordered, by the way, was very good and the portion size was more than sufficient.
Check-Out
Check-out was handled entirely digitally, and the correct invoice arrived shortly thereafter.
Verdict
I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised here. The Hilton had enforced a Covid policy prohibiting minibar restocking and similar services. Just a few meters away, none of that was an issue — nobody even seemed to know about it. The service was very friendly and attentive. The room for the booked category felt high-quality and thoughtfully laid out.
