Hilton Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS)

The Hilton Amsterdam Airport stands out primarily for its excellent lounge access for status members and attractive promotions. The location right at the airport is convenient, though you should budget around 10 minutes of walking from the terminal. It's worth comparing prices with the nearby Sheraton, but the Hilton has the edge when it comes to lounge access.

3.7 / 5

For a short overnight stay, I chose the Hilton located right at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Partly because I didn’t want to travel far, but mainly because Hilton regularly runs some very attractive promotions.

I booked directly through Hilton (via a cashback portal) to earn points and make the most of my Diamond status.

If you’re arriving from the airport — which most people will be — follow the signs toward the hotels (Sheraton and Hilton) and just keep walking. The Hilton is the hotel furthest from the terminal, but fortunately everything is covered, so you’ll arrive dry after about a 10-minute walk.

Check-In

The check-in process was a bit slow and took longer than expected despite there being few other guests. That said, the staff member was a trainee, and I’m naturally more patient in those situations — it’s always good to see someone putting in the effort, even if things take a little longer.

Room

Stepping into the room, the modern and airy design immediately caught my eye. On the right is the bathroom with everything you need. The entrance to it is rather distinctive, separated by a round door.

Next to that there’s comfortable seating and a decent coffee machine — in this case a Nespresso machine, along with a kettle and a selection of teas. For both, you can easily request more coffee or tea from reception, which will be brought to your room in no time.

The desk and chair are genuinely good and comfortable, and you won’t spend ages hunting for power outlets — they’re thoughtfully placed throughout the room.

A wardrobe and safe round out the overall picture. Oh, and there’s also a minibar in the room — though at those prices, you could easily walk back to the airport and hit a supermarket instead.

Lounge

I also visited the lounge, which I was able to access thanks to my status. In the evening there’s a decent selection of alcoholic drinks and snacks (more of a finger food spread), which is perfectly adequate. During the day you can get soft drinks, coffee, water, and small snacks. Breakfast is also served there, though it’s not as extensive as what’s offered in the restaurant.

Check-Out

This went smoothly and very quickly. They even proactively offered to store my luggage, which I thought was a very nice touch.

Verdict

Would I stay at the Hilton again? Absolutely — though you do need to factor in a bit of extra walking time and compare prices with the Sheraton. Since the rates usually don’t differ that much, I’d recommend keeping an eye on current promotions before making a decision. Otherwise, the Hilton has a clear advantage when it comes to its lounge offering.
