A big THANK YOU to guest author SlingFlyer for this contribution, which I am absolutely delighted to share!
Booking
Booked directly through Hyatt.
Location
The Hyatt Regency is located at ZRH within The Circle – specifically, from Arrival 2 via Airport Shopping, past the bus terminal to the main square at “the Circle at ZRH”. Incidentally, the cobblestones come from Switzerland’s Ticino region, near Biasca. The main staircase to the left of the OMEGA brand store leads up to the park. Once at the top, turn right and you walk straight to the main entrance of the Hyatt Regency. So from Arrival 2 at ZRH it’s about 10 minutes, and from Arrival 1 about 15 minutes. There is also a side entrance to the right of the Omega Brandhouse, but you’d miss the first impression of the park – and you can only enter with your room key, or via the intercom.
Check-In
I had the great pleasure – entirely unplanned – of being the very first guest at the Hyatt. What a welcome; I had never experienced anything like it. A heartfelt thank-you once again to the Hyatt crew, who handled everything absolutely brilliantly. The check-in was very personal and efficient. Everything was explained to me, and I was personally escorted to my room.
Lobby
Directly past the main entrance stands a work of art, “le Bing Bäng” by Etienne Krähenbühl from Vevey, crafted from Swiss oak and titanium “cables”.
In the lobby there is “the Market”, which currently serves as a substitute for the in-room minibar. On the bill it appears as “Zum Mitnaeh” – a charming nod for Swiss guests.
For club members there is currently a dedicated area where drinks are provided. Directly to the right of the main entrance is the Babel restaurant, where you can also enjoy the wonderful breakfast – but more on that later.
Room
Hardwood floors and a lovely, plush green carpet. A small wardrobe is on the right, where you’ll also find the cabinet with the ironing board and iron. There is of course a safe as well, positioned above the coffee machine.
A generous bathroom with a large vanity, a great mirror – and instead of a TV built into the mirror, something far more practical: a clock. The shower is equally spacious and separated from the rest of the bathroom by a glass door, which I really appreciate.
In front of the large double bed sits a small sofa with a table offering a lovely view of the park – and of course of the 65” HDTV. USB Type-A ports are located next to every power outlet, meaning you could theoretically charge your devices without a power adapter. The alarm clock even features Qi wireless charging. The blinds can be controlled from the bed via two buttons.
Amenities
The bathroom was stocked with bathrobes, slippers in various sizes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel from the vegan-based brand Pharmacopia.
The gym on the eighth floor currently requires a reservation due to the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic – but in return, you have the entire gym to yourself. That the equipment is brand new goes without saying for a new hotel. The treadmills offer a wonderful view over the park.
Dining
Once again unplanned, I had the honor of being the first guest at the IRIS Bar. The Hyatt also serves a special house beer available exclusively at the Hyatt Regency – definitely worth trying; I liked it very much.
The service was warm and friendly. Dinner was served at the Babel restaurant, where you are shown to your table. Babel serves dishes from the Middle East – the whole experience reminded me a little of Beirut. There are various salads, cold and hot mezze, and of course some delicious desserts. The service here was equally friendly and everything ran smoothly.
I’ll let a few photos speak for themselves.
Check-Out
Just like the check-in, the check-out was equally personal and efficient.
Verdict
All in all, an absolutely magnificent stay. Throughout the nearly 24 hours I was addressed by name – something that personally made a big impression on me. The room was first-class, I slept wonderfully, and I would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank-you once more to the entire Hyatt Regency Zurich Airport The Circle team. It was a fantastic stay, and I have already booked again.
