Introduction
I’m pleased to see from the visitor numbers that quite a few people are interested in my posts. This time my travels took me to Rietberg — find out how I got on at the Lind Hotel in this review.
Location
The Lind Hotel in Rietberg is located at Nordtor 1, 33397 Rietberg, making it very centrally situated with easy access to a wide range of shops and restaurants. Given the current Covid situation, it was also very convenient that a testing centre was just a few metres from the hotel.
Booking
When a hotel isn’t part of a loyalty programme, I like to check prices on other platforms. This time I chose to book via Hotels.com (using a cashback provider). The advantages were, once again, collecting points (or in this case stamps, worth 10%), plus the cashback on top. And this time, Hotels.com even threw in a free bottle of wine delivered to the room.
Check-In
Even though I had never stayed at this hotel before, I found the welcome and the entire check-in process to be very friendly and professional. Although I arrived a little before the official check-in time, a quick phone call was all it took to get into my room straight away. The parcel I had sent ahead was also immediately to hand. My Covid certificate was of course checked, after which I was also told I was welcome to use the fitness room and the spa.
Room
The room is decidedly modern and practically furnished.
In the entrance area, the bathroom is on the left; in the hallway there is a wardrobe with a safe, bathrobe, slippers, and various other useful little items.
My room had a shower with an open entry area — which did result in a minor flood, though nothing too serious. There is also a vanity kit etc., and all soap and shower products are dispensed from wall-mounted dispensers.
The bed (slightly on the soft side) is perfectly fine; for the second night they also brought me extra pillows, which was great. The minibar (soft drinks) is included in the price, and the bottle of wine came on top thanks to the Hotels.com booking.
You may notice from the photos that the TV appears small in some shots and large in others. That’s right — during my stay the television was swapped out for a new model, after which everything worked perfectly. There is also a comfortable armchair next to the glass table.
There were plenty of plug sockets, and the Wi-Fi worked well overall — though for inexplicable reasons it did drop the connection every now and then. The speed itself was good, however.
Fitness & Spa
There are several (cardio) machines here, which are more than adequate. There are also saunas, which are really lovely.
Breakfast
Unfortunately I didn’t have breakfast here, though I’ve only heard good things about it from others.
Check-Out
Check-out was fairly quick, the bill was correct, and it was sent to me via Hotels.com.
Verdict
Definitely worth a visit again in the future — that’s probably the best way I can put it. The staff are attentive, there is (usually) enough parking, and the in-room drinks are complimentary. The only downside is that you can’t make coffee in the room (though apparently that’s set to change soon). I will certainly be happy to come back here.
