Palma de Mallorca Airport has a few lounges in the secure area that can be used depending on your card, cabin class, or status.
Location and Access
The Sala VIP Formentor - Aeropuerto Palma de Mallorca (PMI) is located in Terminal D. The lounge is on a mezzanine level, accessible by elevator or stairs, and is situated near Gate D88.
Current opening hours are daily from 06:00 to 22:00.
Access to the lounge is granted to Business Class passengers, selected status holders of various alliances (e.g. Lufthansa Senator or HON), Priority Pass holders, or you can purchase entry for €35.95. Whether that’s worth it is up to each individual to decide.
Amenities
Despite being located on the lower level, the lounge is relatively bright — quite unlike the Lufthansa Lounge in Paris. You can find my review of that one here: Review Lufthansa Gold Lounge Paris CDG
The selection of soft drinks, hot beverages, and alcohol is generous. The food is of good quality, covering everything from delicious regional specialties to dishes with an international touch.
The lounge also has several screens displaying departure information.
In addition to the obligatory restrooms (which, sadly, aren’t always a given inside a lounge) — which are very clean, by the way — there are several separate areas for relaxation and dining. There is also a meeting room and a play area for children. Unfortunately, power outlets are very scarce; if you need to work, you’ll have to actively seek out the few seats that have them.
The furniture is kept very colorful and bright, giving the space a modern feel.
Verdict
In my opinion, it’s more pleasant to wait in the lounge than at the gate. The food selection in the terminal is quite extensive — after all, this is the third-largest airport in Spain. The lounge fills up quickly, and it takes a while before tables are cleared.
