Now that flight operations have recovered well at Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport, I had the opportunity to pay a visit to my old home airport. You can find my previous review here — and let me just say, the renovation has done the lounge a world of good. What awaits you during an early morning departure here is what I’ll cover in this review.
Location and Access
Only the location of the lounge (past the Duty Free, then through to the right) remains the same. However, it has now been furnished in a truly contemporary style, and you can also purchase access. Prices are currently 19.99 EUR for adults and 8.99 EUR for children.

Beyond that, Business Class passengers or those with the corresponding airline status also gain access. Normally, you’ll get a code written on your boarding pass at check-in — at the Lufthansa counter at the airport, for example. Since I had checked in online and only one staff member was at the desk at that early hour, I called briefly instead. Thanks to my HON status, I was given the code over the phone.
Amenities
In the center of the lounge there is now a stylish bar (though it was unstaffed at the time of my visit). Along the windows as well as in the back of the lounge, there are several very comfortable seating areas that are slightly separated from one another — something I personally find very pleasant.
There are also two refrigerators where you can help yourself to juices and water. Of course, a coffee machine is available as well, and it makes a perfectly decent coffee.
Another new addition is the option to grab a small bite to eat. At the early hour, there were pretzels and pre-packaged sandwiches that looked good.
Overall, the lounge makes a very modern impression. There will certainly be visitors who don’t care for the color scheme, but I found it very cozy for the stay and was positively impressed. The restrooms are still located outside the lounge — that hasn’t changed.
Verdict
At this point, I have to pay my old home airport a compliment. The redesigned lounge is truly well done and a pleasure to visit. As always, if you only have a short amount of time in a lounge, the admission fee may not be worth it. But that’s something everyone has to decide for themselves.
