The Sheraton Brussels is very well located, so you can easily walk here directly from the terminal. Whether it’s worth it, you’ll find out in this review.
Booking
As always, I booked this hotel via a cashback site directly with Marriott — soon there will finally be a new category on my blog covering topics like these.
Location and Check In
Whether it’s really 39 steps from the terminal to the hotel — well, that’s hard to judge. But I can say this: I was at the hotel in under 2 minutes from the exit. All you need to do is follow the quite decent signage to the Sheraton.
Check In
Normally the check-in is pretty relaxed. This time, however, there was quite a long queue, and I briefly stepped forward to get the digital key. I had checked in via the app beforehand — but then a staff member called out quite loudly whether there were any Marriott status guests here, as they could come straight to the front. I did just that and had my room key in hand in less than 2 minutes. I still haven’t warmed up to the digital key — unfortunately it has never worked for me so far.
Room
Overall, the first impression was rather underwhelming. I’m still amazed at how nicely an empty minibar can be presented. It used to always be blamed on Corona, but in my opinion they could come up with something new by now. Whether instant coffee sticks are exactly state of the art is of course up to everyone to decide for themselves.
The bathroom was fine, but somehow it reminded me of the American Sheratons. Now of course with the large bottles of shampoo etc. Otherwise it was perfectly adequate for a (short) night.
Amenities
The lounge was still just about open, and I managed to take a few photos here. It’s not particularly large — on one side there are just enough seating options, plus a selection of small snacks and drinks. At the entrance there was still a staff member, though she was busy with room service orders the entire time.
I also visited the gym, which I would describe as small but nice. But you also shouldn’t forget that most guests here only stay for one night. For that, it’s more than sufficient in my opinion.
Check Out
This was done digitally via the app. I did receive the correct invoice after about 1 hour, though.
Conclusion
Time is starting to take its toll here. I especially noticed it in the room — they’re making an effort, and the biggest advantage is certainly the proximity to the airport. You can feel it in the price, and you have to consider what premium this “luxury” is worth to you.
