Skyteam Lounge - Santiago de Chile

The Skyteam Lounge in Santiago de Chile is a solid, brightly designed lounge on the lower level of International Terminal 2. The selection of food, drinks, and amenities such as showers and lie-flat pods is adequate for travelers' needs. The décor, featuring light green tones and wood design, creates a warm, pleasant ambiance.

South America is not exactly a Star Alliance hotspot, which is why I opted for the KLM flight from Santiago de Chile to Buenos Aires. However, Santiago airport has a few lounges in the secure area that can be used depending on your card, cabin, or status. The most well-known is the LATAM Lounge, but the Skyteam alliance has its own lounge, similar to the Star Alliance Lounge in Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam, and so on.

Location and Access

The Skyteam Lounge is located past security and passport control in International Terminal 2 and is therefore only available to guests on international flights. Unfortunately, the lounge is not signposted — after security, or rather the duty-free area, turn right and head towards Gate E.

In the Gate E area, the lounge is right on the right-hand side. It can be reached via elevator, as it is located on the lower level.

Access to the lounge is granted to Business Class passengers, corresponding Skyteam status holders, and Priority Pass members. And yes — there will soon be a separate guide about Priority Pass and credit cards under the new “Guides” category.

Amenities

The size is adequate for the departing flights of Skyteam member airlines. Despite being located on the lower level, the lounge is bright.

The lounge has both the usual restrooms and showers. The food selection is adapted to the time of day, and the quality is good. Cold drinks can be grabbed self-service from the fridges. Hot beverages are available on request.

There are a few workstations and a small business center with a printer, but the lounge is not really suited for getting work done. For relaxation, in addition to various sofa chairs in different sizes, there are comfortable lie-flat pods.

The view of the tarmac and the cargo area sparks that pre-travel excitement.

Verdict

The furniture, kept in light green tones and wood design, creates a warm, pleasant ambiance that invites you to linger.
