Capsule Hotel Zürich Airport (ZRH)

The Capsule Hotel Zürich is an outstanding option for early-morning flyers and travelers with long layovers, thanks to its prime location right next to Check-in 1 at ZRH. The modern capsules impress with clever design, and the offering of a spa, co-working spaces, and a 24/7 bar sets it clearly apart from classic airport hotels. If you're looking for comfort and location at a fair price, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better alternative.

Introduction

To be open and honest — I had the pleasure of visiting this hotel, but didn’t actually stay overnight. That said, I’m planning to change that very soon.

Rates range from CHF 35 (day use) to CHF 65 and up per night. There are 144 capsules in total.

Location

You’ll find the Capsule Hotel just a stone’s throw from the airport — or more precisely, about 25 metres from Check-in 1. It really doesn’t get any closer than that.

Check-In

The easiest way is to check in online in advance or enter your details at one of the self-service kiosks. You’ll then receive a code for your capsule.

If something doesn’t work right away, the friendly staff (known here as Capsulaner) are always on hand to help.

Room / Capsule

This is where you’ll find the capsules — and I have to say, I was really impressed. The room even features a small “reading nook” at the far end.

Inside the capsule there are well-thought-out storage spaces, plenty of power outlets, as well as a towel and slippers. It also feels much more spacious than I initially expected.

Another clever little detail: you can secure your luggage in front of the capsule using a cable lock.

Amenities / Recreation

The first thing that stands out is the small but excellent spa area, which also houses the showers.

Alongside a social area, there are also co-working spaces. Overall, everything feels fresh and modern. The collaboration with Swiss photographer Fabio Zingg and all his wonderful shots was, in my view, very well worth it.

At the bar, you can get coffee, soft drinks, snacks, and alcoholic beverages around the clock, 24/7.

Breakfast

I didn’t try breakfast myself, but I’d like to point out that food is available to purchase on-site. The selection of food and drinks looks high-quality.

Check-Out

Check-out is also handled digitally, and within just a few metres you’re back at Check-in 1.

Verdict

The new Capsule Hotel is a genuine alternative to the other hotels around (and in) the airport. If you need to be at the airport early in the morning or are facing a long layover, the Capsule Hotel’s location simply can’t be beaten. Add to that the friendly and upbeat staff — and where else do you find a spa this close to an airport? I can recommend it wholeheartedly.
