Introduction
For our annual “guys’ weekend” we headed to Dubai once again — partly to visit the Expo, about which I’d heard many exciting things.
Location
The exact address is: Sheikh Zayed Rd - Trade Centre - Trade Centre 1 - Dubai. By Uber it’s around 30 minutes from the airport (depending on the time of day), costing approximately 35 CHF/EUR.
Right in front of the Conrad there’s also a metro station within very short walking distance, which gives you additional flexibility.
Check-In
We arrived in the evening and were able to check in fairly quickly. The service was, however, rather slow.
As always, I booked directly through Hilton (with cashback), and even before arrival the app showed me an upgrade to a corner room.
The lobby is (as is typical in Dubai) very large and opulent. A matter of taste, but fitting for a Conrad.
Room
In short: more than spacious enough and beautifully appointed. Upon entering the room, the bathroom and wardrobes are on the right-hand side.
Normally one would say that the bed takes up most of the room — here that’s only partially true. The bed is indeed very large and comfortable (with turndown service in the evening), but alongside it there’s also a small seating area and a large desk.
Working at the desk for extended periods is no problem at all.
There’s also a well-stocked minibar (at extra charge), along with plenty of coffee, tea, and water.
The bathroom features a large shower as well as a bathtub and a separate toilet.
Also worth highlighting are the many little extras such as a toothbrush, razor, and similar amenities.
Normally Conrad hotels always include a complimentary special stuffed animal, but here it’s sold rather than given away. The welcome gift consists of a few filled dates along with a welcome letter drawing attention to the benefits of your status and the various opening hours.
Lounge
The lounge consists of a very large room with a variety of seating options that aren’t placed too close together.
The exact opening hours can be found here:
You can also have breakfast here in the morning, and it’s simply much more relaxed than the restaurant. The selection is also above average. Throughout the day, soft drinks, coffee, and more are available, along with cake, fruit, and other snacks.
In the evening there’s also a buffet that almost replaces dinner.
Afternoon offerings:
During happy hour, a variety of alcoholic drinks are also served. Feel free to ask for cocktails — they’ll be made and brought to your table. For this reason, the lounge gets noticeably busier during happy hour.
Amenities / Recreation
There’s a very nice pool area, as well as a spa and gym on the 1st floor. Unlike at the Waldorf Dubai, there’s no complimentary water here — it always has to be paid for separately. There is, however, also a food menu if you’re feeling hungry.
Pool:
Spa and Gym
As always, complimentary water is available in the gym — the Conrad Dubai is no exception. The equipment is modern and there’s virtually always a free machine available.
Breakfast
You can either take breakfast in the lounge (if you have the right room category or Hilton status) or in the restaurant. Unfortunately it was always very busy, making it difficult to get good photos. The selection is genuinely very diverse, and at various stations fresh dishes are prepared to order.
Check-Out
This went without any issues, and a late check-out had already been granted in advance at no charge. The points credit, however, was not processed correctly and I had to follow up with Hilton.
Verdict
Thanks to the good price and my Diamond status, this was a truly enjoyable stay and I loved it. The complimentary late check-out and the excellent room are also particularly worth mentioning. The lounge offering keeps you well-fed and comfortable throughout the day, which is certainly not to be underestimated. In short: I’d be happy to come back here.
