Horizon Lounge, Geneva (GVA)

The Horizon Lounge in Geneva is a solid but unremarkable option for travellers with lounge access. Perfectly adequate for a short stopover before a connecting flight — but anyone expecting comfortable working conditions or a wide range of offerings will be disappointed.

3 / 5

Geneva Airport has more to offer than just the Swiss Lounge — there are several other lounges as well. This review covers the Horizon Lounge.

Location

In Terminal 1, after going through security, head up one floor and you’ll find several lounges. If you’re connecting through Geneva, the lounge is essentially above the Duty Free in the central area of Terminal 1.

Access

The lounge appears to participate in just about every programme going — for simplicity, I took a photo of the access requirements.

Amenities

The lounge essentially consists of a single large room. On the left side there’s a separate area for food and drinks. On the right side you’ll find seating and a few magazines. Power outlets are not quite as plentiful as you’d hope for these days.

Unfortunately I missed my chance for decent photos — several groups suddenly arrived in the lounge at once, so I wasn’t able to get any shots of the seating area.

One thing worth noting: the toilets are not inside the lounge. You’ll need to step out and walk a few metres to the right (past the Swiss Senator Lounge).

Verdict

In my opinion, the lounge is perfectly adequate for a (short) stopover. There’s nothing here that would make it worth arriving at the airport extra early, but it’s good enough to comfortably pass the time before a connecting flight.
