Even though there are already plenty of reviews about this lounge, I still want to write a review about one of my visits here.
Location and Access
Since it’s a separate terminal, you simply walk “left” from the airport, past the taxi stands, and after just a few meters you’ve made it. There’s no direct transfer if you arrive in Frankfurt, so like it or not, you’ll have to walk to the First Class Terminal when you land in Frankfurt. If you arrive on foot, you just need to take the elevator up one floor.
You gain access either with a Lufthansa or Swiss First Class ticket on the same day (arriving or departing) or as a HON member, regardless of booking class.
Otherwise, entry is quite straightforward — you’re greeted there and your ticket is checked. Then your Personal Assistant escorts you through the security checkpoint (which has never been busy so far). On the left side, you can shop at the Duty Free store, and if something isn’t available, they’re happy to have it brought to you. I was told they’re looking for a new operator for the Duty Free, but unfortunately haven’t found one yet.
On the right side, there’s a wonderful bar with the option to do an extensive whisky tasting.
Dining and Amenities
Behind that is the dining area with a buffet. However, dishes are also brought to your table. The menu changes from time to time, and there are always specialties for special occasions and seasons.
Buffet
Right Next Door — À la Carte
Next to that, there are several bathrooms (one with a bathtub), and you’ll also find premium toiletries here. The famous Lufthansa rubber duck naturally can’t be missing either, though it’s now brought by the Personal Assistant.
There are also two quiet rooms with a simple bed if you want to catch some sleep.
For smokers, there’s also a cigar lounge stocked with a selection of alcoholic beverages.
Of course, there are also plenty of seating options spread throughout the lounge. Here too, drinks are served to you. There are also very comfortable armchairs that invite you to relax.
Separate work areas are also available, so you can make phone calls or work in peace. Writing materials are provided as well. It’s also one of the few areas with power outlets, which are rather scarce throughout the FCT.
Behind the printer (which is to the right of the bar), there’s also a play area for younger guests, which I think is really great.
Transfer
When it’s time for your onward flight, your Personal Assistant comes to pick you up. You hand over your passport at the entrance already, so you just need to go down one floor and collect your passport from the Federal Police there. You won’t have to wait long here either. From there, it continues with a direct transfer to the aircraft. If there are multiple guests heading to the same destination, you share a van — otherwise, it’s a very private ride.
Verdict
No question — the Lufthansa First Class Terminal is in a league of its own. The entire service is extremely friendly and attentive. From arrival, the separate security checkpoint, and the transfer to the aircraft, to the dining. I’m of course always happy to come back here and would always plan for more time.
