Osaka International Airport (KIX) is divided into a Domestic and International Terminal. In the departure area of the International section, there are several lounges that can be used depending on your airline, alliance, and/or status. Since I was flying China Airlines to Taipei, I opted for the Northwing Lounge KIX.
Location and Access
The lounge is somewhat tricky to find, despite the check-in staff’s attempt to give directions. After immigration and security, head toward Gates 101-103. It’s signposted after the Starbucks.
Since it’s a contract lounge, the access rules are, to put it mildly, confusing. Flying with a Oneworld or Skyteam airline in Business Class and/or holding a status that entitles you to lounge access is enough to get in. Additionally, certain credit cards may grant access.
Amenities
The lounge isn’t very large but offers a wonderful view of the apron. Given its dimensions, the lounge feels a bit too small.
Besides the obligatory restrooms, which are very clean, the space is divided into several quiet and dining areas.
The selection of soft drinks, hot beverages, and alcohol is okay. The food on offer is of good quality.
There are several screens in the lounge displaying departures, making it easy to keep track without things feeling too hectic.
Verdict
The lounge is pleasant and okay for waiting for a flight, but I wouldn’t plan extra time specifically for the lounge.
