ANA offers a solid Business Class amenity kit in a high-quality light blue bag by Ettinger London — with a clear luxury feel and reusable quality. However, smaller details like a deodorant or pen are missing, which is why some other airlines edge ahead in this category.
The Hilton Tokyo Shinjuku impresses with an excellent location near the metro and the Shinjuku district, along with friendly, helpful service. The Executive Lounge with potential views of Mount Fuji and the generous breakfast buffet elevate the stay. For the value offered, it's a solid city hotel with a few minor drawbacks such as the lack of European power outlets.
China Airlines impresses on the short-haul flight from Osaka to Taipei with warm service – including a personal greeting at the door – and an outstanding entertainment system with top-notch headphones. The regional Business Class in a 2-2-2 configuration offers solid comfort, even if it can't compete with a full-flat long-haul cabin. The flight definitely leaves you wanting more: China Airlines on a long-haul route has moved straight to the top of the wish list.
The North Wing Lounge at Osaka Kansai Airport is a solid contract lounge with pleasant views of the apron and a decent food and beverage selection. It's sufficient for a short stay before your flight, but not worth an extra-early visit.
The InterContinental Tokyo Bay offers excellent value for the price paid, with spacious rooms and a lovely view of the bay. The service impressed with its friendliness and generous Ambassador benefits such as an upgrade and late check-out. Public transport connections are acceptable, though not ideal.
The Hilton Osaka impresses above all with its excellent location right next to Osaka Station, offering outstanding connections to the Shinkansen and metro. The stay delivered good value for money, friendly service, and a delicious breakfast buffet featuring both Japanese and Western dishes.
The ANA InterContinental Tokyo delivers a solid, if not exceptional, experience for the price paid. The location with a metro station just five minutes' walk away is convenient, and the breakfast buffet with both Japanese and Western options is genuinely excellent. The service was friendly and the automatic Ambassador upgrade a welcome touch, though the room itself remains fairly average.
