Senator Lounge Mailand Malpensa (MXP)

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at Milan Malpensa offers the basics: a staffed bar, live cooking at certain times of day, and clean restrooms. The food selection, however, is limited, and showers are entirely absent. If you expect a solid but unremarkable lounge visit, you won't be disappointed – but it's not worth going out of your way for.

3.5 / 5

During a short but nice trip with friends, I ended up in the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in Milan. You can read here how I liked it here.

Location and access

This Lufthansa lounge awaits you in Terminal 1, Schengen Area A. You have to walk to the right after the security check. Once you have passed one or two restaurants and are close to Starbucks, you are almost there.

The opening hours are Monday to Sunday 04:30 am -9:30 pm (with the exception of Saturday, when the lounge is open from 04:45 am - 8:30 pm).

Access is permitted as a Business Class traveler or Frequent Traveller.

Amenities

As is so often the case, everything here consists of one large room. After the reception area, there are a few tables with power sockets on the left-hand side. Further back, there are small areas for working and other seats that are very typical of Lufthansa. To enhance everything, they have also tried to install a book wall here. Personally, I think it’s a good idea as it improves everything a little and makes it look more upmarket.

All alcoholic drinks are served at a serving bar. For non-alcoholic drinks, you have the option of “tapping” them yourself. Live cooking is also offered at two times of the day. On my previous visits, there were two different pastas here.

But what I always like is when you can store your suitcase securely. This is also possible here.

The food varies depending on the time of day. Sometimes there are small sandwiches (which you can also fill yourself) or hot options such as pasta or soup from lunchtime. The selection is rather small and yes, you will get your fill, but I wasn’t really impressed.

Unfortunately there are no showers in the lounge, but there are toilets which I found to be very clean and chic.

Conclusion

Basically, there is nothing wrong with the Lufthansa Lounge, but personally I would not come earlier to visit the lounge. It offers the essentials, but not much more.
