Star Alliance Gold Lounge Amsterdam (AMS)

The Star Alliance Gold Lounge in Amsterdam impresses with a solid food and drink selection, including beer on tap, and a pleasant, well-divided room concept. Unfortunately, showers and sleeping facilities are missing, and some lockers at the entrance don't work reliably. All in all, a good lounge for a longer stay before departure.

Location

Terminal 1, Departures 2, Floor 3. Opening hours are Monday to Sunday from 05:30 to 21:00. As always, it’s worth checking the current opening hours, either via the Lufthansa Lounge Finder or the Star Alliance one.

Access

For all guests with a Star Alliance Gold card (United, Lufthansa, Swiss) plus one companion, as well as guests with a First Class / Business Class ticket (without status) or HON status with a same-day departing Star Alliance flight.

It also happens regularly that people try to gain access here because the lounge next door is often very crowded and the offering isn’t quite as convincing.

As in every Star Alliance Lounge, there’s a saying here that I personally find very lovely:

Amenities

Directly to the right after the entrance, you can store your luggage in a locker. Unfortunately, not all the lockers seem to work, so during my visits I was always offered to have my luggage looked after instead. Actually very nice, but also a shame that it simply isn’t being repaired.

The lounge consists of just one large room, which is cleverly divided into different areas.

There are seats at high tables, smaller workspaces further back, and a large table for when you’re meeting up with several people and working together.

The food varies depending on the time of day, but salads and cold cuts are available throughout the day. In addition, there are two hot dishes that are refilled very regularly.

Drinks are self-service and, in my opinion, there’s something to suit every taste. For those who like self-poured beer, that option is available too. Soft drinks are kept in fridges and there are also several coffee machines spread around the lounge.

The wine rack, however, is only there for display purposes 😉 But behind it are the toilets – unfortunately there are no showers in this lounge.

Verdict

In my opinion, you can definitely spend a bit more time here. It’s a shame, of course, that there are no showers or sleeping facilities. Along the window front there are some more comfortable seats, but those also serve as a substitute for a nap room. All in all, really well done.
