United Club Hongkong(HKG)
Lounge

United Club Hongkong(HKG)

A solid, well-located lounge with natural light and appealing furnishings – not spectacular, but reliable. The food selection impresses with both Western and Asian options, yet it lacks the "Polaris Lounge" feeling despite the apron view.

3.8 / 5

The United Club Lounge is located in Terminal 1 of Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), near Gate 60.

Location & Access

Access is granted to Business and First Class passengers on United Airlines or any Star Alliance partner airline. Since it’s not classified as a Polaris Lounge, Star Alliance Gold members departing on a same-day Star Alliance flight are also welcome.

After a long closure due to the pandemic, the lounge reopened on October 8, 2025. Its location is well thought out — easy to reach after security, clearly signposted, and convenient for those with some time before departure. However, if you have a tight connection, allow about 10–15 minutes to reach it from certain gates.

Atmosphere & Facilities

Unlike the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge, this United Lounge benefits from plenty of daylight, high ceilings, and views of the terminal and airfield — perfect for those who love that “travel feeling” before a long flight.

The lounge is divided into different seating zones, including:

Glass partition between two rooms with seating furniture and information signs
Lounge with chairs and sofas in modern design
Lounge with neutral-colored chairs and couches
Lounge with black chairs and tables at the airport
Hallway with orange wall and glass partition
Lounge with beige chairs and tables
  • Comfortable armchairs with side tables
  • High tables overlooking the apron
  • Traditional table-and-chair setups for dining

The business center offers private phone booths and workstations with power outlets, ideal for catching up on work or calls. A minor drawback: in some seating areas, power outlets and USB ports are limited — something even lounges like the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt are familiar with.

Overall, the atmosphere feels bright, modern, and spacious — though not completely quiet. The open layout brings in some ambient noise from the terminal. Comfort also varies slightly by seating zone, so choosing your spot wisely(especially near power) is key.

Food & Beverages

The buffet selection offers a good mix of Western and Asian options, fresh and tasty. You’ll find:

  • Hot Asian dishes
  • Light Western fare
  • Quality coffee and soft drinks
  • A solid range of wines and spirits

While it’s not a gourmet dining experience, the offering is balanced and satisfying — enough to keep you refreshed during a layover or pre-flight wait.

Work & Relaxation

Whether you’re looking to get some work done or freshen up before a long flight, the lounge delivers. Showers are available, and workspaces are practical, though the overall vibe leans more toward functional comfort than full-on luxury. If you’re hoping for a deep, quiet “lounge zen” experience, this might not be the place — but for a short rest, a meal, and some productivity, it’s ideal.

Verdict & Recommendation

To sum it up in one sentence:

While it doesn’t evoke the “Polaris Lounge” premium feeling, the view of the runway and bright interior make it a pleasant stop before your Star Alliance flight out of Hong Kong.
