It’s always great when a good friend and passionate frequent flyer contributes a new post — so a special THANK YOU to Phil, who provided everything for this one.
Booking
This Air Serbia flight was booked in the usual way through the Air Serbia website at the Eco fare. However, there was the option to bid for a business upgrade on the flight from Zürich to Belgrade. No hesitation there. The upgrade was accepted for CHF 100, and just like that I had a seat in Business Class on the A319 to look forward to. The scheduled block time is 1h 40min, which we managed to stick to comfortably.
Service
From the moment of boarding, it was clear this was going to be a good flight. The flight attendants were exceptionally friendly and clearly intended to deliver great service on this route too. Minor spoiler: they pulled it off.
It’s great to see that Air Serbia hasn’t done away with menu cards — even on a flight this short.
Of course, menus don’t always reflect reality, but the catering here genuinely delivered. On top of that, it didn’t take long at all before my meal arrived.
For the record, this covers just one flight — though a colleague kindly let me photograph his meal as well.
The seat pitch in European Business Class is… let’s say it’s there. Personally, I always choose the first row when available, and here too the legroom was perfectly adequate.
Verdict
The value for money on this flight was excellent, and I would absolutely fly Air Serbia again. Service still makes a real difference when flying Business Class within Europe, and Air Serbia scored points here as well.
