Lufthansa Senator Lounge London Heathrow (LHR)

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge at London Heathrow impresses primarily with its above-average catering offering, making it one of the better lounges in the Lufthansa network. The work area and power outlet availability are practical, though it can get crowded during peak times with a shortage of seating.

Location and Access

The Lufthansa Business and Senator Lounge, or Star Alliance Gold lounge, is located in Terminal 2. After passing through security, keep to the right and then head up one level.

Generally, anyone with a Business Class ticket, Lufthansa Frequent Flyer/Senator/HON status, or a Star Alliance Gold card is granted access. As a Senator/HON member, you can also bring a guest, provided they are booked on the same flight. For Eurowings, please note that in addition to holding the relevant status, you must also be booked in at least the Smart fare.

Opening hours are (currently) daily from 05:00 to 22:00.

At the entrance, your boarding pass is checked as usual. If you hold at least Senator status, you’ll receive a small ticket with a QR code to access the Senator Lounge, which is located at the far end of the Business Class Lounge.

Amenities

First of all, the offerings in both lounges are largely identical. There does seem to be the occasional extra dish or drink in the Senator Lounge. The photos here, however, are exclusively from the Senator Lounge.

On the right side, all the food and drinks are set up. Next to that, there’s a small bar area with a coffee machine as well as sandwiches and cake.

There’s also a small standing bar that has plenty of power outlets.

Beyond that, there are additional seating areas in the typical Lufthansa design.

A separate workspace is also available, where you can work more comfortably — each workstation comes with its own power outlet.

It’s also worth noting that there are restrooms inside the lounge.

Alternatively, if you have enough time, I’d also recommend checking out the other Star Alliance lounges. These would be the Singapore Airlines or United Airlines lounges, which are reachable through the tunnel. Do allow plenty of time for that, though.

Verdict

Thanks to the better catering, this is certainly one of the better Lufthansa lounges, and one where I always enjoy making a stop. The selection of food and drinks is above average, though it can sometimes get crowded and seating may be limited.
